About me
Hola! Hi! Mari Mari! I'm Michelle, I'm based in Santiago. I'm a social communicator and journalist. I specialize in strategic communication, press management, and content creation. I'm interested in contributing to the empowerment of people in the digital space and telling stories about the impact of technology in our societies.
I'm also a descendant of the Mapuche ethnic group, an indigenous community of south-central Chile and southwestern Argentina, and I contribute to Spanish Wikipedia as user Mimcollipal with content related to historical figures and intangible cultural heritage of my culture.
I like to drink yerba mate and running makes me happy. I hope to run a marathon someday.
My work
I'm currently Communications Director at Wikimedia Chile. I work with chilean Wikimedia users to foster community engagement and organize outreach activities aimed at promoting the Wikimedia projects and encouraging new local contributors to join the movement.
I also guide, develop and execute communications strategies and materials from our chapter, building relations and lead cooperative efforts with external stakeholders like journalists, local media and civil society organizations.
