I have been a Kannada Wikipedian since 2004
I started my career in Bhabha Atmoic Research Centre, Trombay, Mumbai, in 1981. I did my PhD from University of Bombay while working in BARC. I did advanced post-doctoral research at IAMS, Taipei, Taiwan. In 1997, I resigned from BARC and moved to Bengaluru with a passion for computers and Indian languages on a broader perspective and Kannada as specific interest. I worked for many companies and organisations under various capacities. Prominent among them are Tally Solutions as Head of Indian Language initiative, Consultant on Indian Languages to Microsoft India, Adviser to Microsoft Research Labs India on Natural Language Processing activities for Indian Languages, General Manager Academics to Manipal Education, etc. I am a member of the Kannada Software Committee of Karnataka Government. Some other advisory bodies and panels that I am member are - Kannada University, Hampi, Bangalore University, National Translation Mission, etc.
I am highly passionate about Indian language computing. I have been in this area for more than 2 decades now. I have conducted many workshops and given presentations on this topic all over India and at Nepal.
I am a passionate Wikipedian. I am one of the earliest editors of Kannada Wikipedia. I am active in Kannada Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Wikiquote and Wikisource. I am also active in Tulu Wikipedia and the just now started Tulu Wiktionary in incubation.
