From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

A User Guide to Sandra Fauconnier (inspired by Daniel's)

I also maintain a similar guide in a (usually not very up to date) Google slide.

Logistics:

  • I'm a morning person. My energy levels slowly decline during the day. My timezone is CEST; this means that I tend to have lower energy levels when meeting with people in US time zones. It's totally OK, but I appreciate if I can meet as early as possible :-)
  • I'm very flexible with regards to communications channels and will easily adapt to any channel that people prefer. I don't have strong principles re: closed versus open platforms. Personally I prefer "direct message" style interactions; I am not super fond of email (messages tend to get buried there) and am terrified of phone calls. Don't hesitate to send me a direct message whenever you have a quick question on the spot or when you want to check in.

Things I like:

  • I like cracking jokes and inserting some silliness in conversations. Don't worry, I do take my work very seriously, I just like to goof around. I love it when others do the same!

How to talk to me:

  • I really appreciate open and honest, direct communication and conversations ("Dutch directness").

Things I'm bad at:

  • I love people, I love the Wikimedia movement and actively interacting in the community. That said: I am a very strong introvert. Meetings (in person and online) drain me and I really need to recharge afterwards, even if the meetings are very positive, and with people I appreciate greatly. This is why I feel most happy when my work also involves a good chunk of silent, solo, focused work.
  • I have a few weird triggers...
    • I very easily feel judged and distrusted (it's probably something from my childhood, and I'm working on it). That said, it really helps me if I feel that people trust me. I really try to do the best thing at all times.
    • I tend to get annoyed and even enraged about dogmas and "holy principles".

Peculiarities:

  • I have a "volcanic eruption" working style. You may not hear from me for a while, but things will be 'brewing' under the surface while I thoroughly think everything through. After giving a task/challenge a lot of thought, I will produce output in sudden, extremely productive "eruption-style" episodes.
