Shibu Murmu is a Nepali Santhali (Santhal) writer, cultural activist, and language promoter from Bahradashi Rural Barhadashi Rural Municipality Ward No -02, Rajgadh, Jhapa District, Nepal. He belongs to the indigenous Santhali community, one of the Adivasi Janajati groups of eastern Nepal.
He is known for his active contribution to the preservation and promotion of the Santhali language, literature, and culture. Shibu Murmu writes poems, articles, and essays in both Santhali and Nepali languages. He strongly advocates the use of the Ol Chiki script, which is the traditional writing system of the Santhali language.
In addition to literary work, he has been involved in digital language activism, including contributions to Santhali Wikipedia and other online platforms that promote indigenous knowledge and culture.
For his dedication to indigenous language, literature, and cultural research, Shibu Murmu has received national and international recognition, including selection for an International Youth Award 2025 by an Indian organization Of Juwan Onoliya (27th Dec.2025) and Sadhuramchand Murmu - Pt. Raghunath Murmu Award by International Santal Council (7th March 2026).
