User:SpamReportBot/cw/about

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

This page documents User:SpamReportBot/cw which is included on the talk page of the meta spam blacklist.

Every entry that is on the list is an entry that the bot has spotted adding multiple links across multiple wikimedia wikis. Each report has the following:

  1. A template that contains links to more information, including COIBot reports which this bot will trigger in the near future. (so those links will always be blue)
  2. a disclaimer, pretty much just noting that just because it shows up it is not always spam.
  3. The date of the first insertion that the bot saw, and the date of the last insertion that it saw. Good for seeing how long a problem has been going on.
  4. A log entry snippet. If a meta admin blacklists it, they can just copy paste that snippet into the log, and replace ADMINNAME with their name.
  5. A list of links, date it was added, and the diff it was added in. This is more or less the "meat" of the report.
  6. Request status template. This template has 3 settings.
    1. {{LinkStatus|open}} - Means the report is open and is displaying on the talk page of the meta blacklist. It needs reviewing, a discussion to finish, something.
    2. {{LinkStatus|closed}} - Means the report is closed, an action was taken, it was decieded that the link was not spam, all the links reverted: but not blacklisted, or it was blacklisted. Basically means the report won't show up on the talk page of the meta blacklist. The report will show up again should the bot detect a new link added that matches the same pattern that caused the original detection. If this occurs, the program will reopen the report.
    3. {{LinkStatus|ignore}} - should it be determined that a link is in no way causing any problems, and it is agreed that the bot should pay no further attention to link additions from that domain, this tag does it. Even if it is added in a pattern similar to the pattern that caused the first link to be added, the program will not put it back up for review.

Please note that on older reports, the {{LinkStatus|open}} template is not on the page, to close the report, please add the template to the page, at the bottom, and mark it as closed.
