National Seminar on Science and Archaeology (राष्ट्रीय संगोष्ठी : विज्ञान एवं पुरातत्व ), March 17-19, 2017. Mahant Ghasidas Memorial Museum,Raipur - Chhattisgarh, India. Summary of Participation[edit]

I was a speaker at the National Seminar on Science and Archaeology, where I delivered my talk on "हिंदी विकिपीडिया द्वारा विज्ञान प्रसार में प्रयास" or "Efforts in science dissemination by Hindi Wikipedia". It was great to meet people,students from different fields. Sharing the noble cause of Wikimedia foundation  to encouraging the growth, development and distribution of free, multilingual, educational content, and to providing the full content of these wiki-based projects to the public free of charge and how Hindi Wikipedia is helping the society in spreading free knowledge in almost every field, especially in the field of Science and Archaeology. I also introduced other sister projects of Wikimedia like Commons, Wikisource, Wikibooks and also gave brief introduction about GLAM,and Wikimedia Education Program.

Outcomes[edit]

  • Created awareness on Hindi and other Indic Wikipedia as online encyclopedia.
  • Explored new possibility for future joint with BARC.
  • Also explored new possibility with DIRECTORATE OF CULTURE AND ARCHAEOLOGY (Govt of Chhattisgarh) like WLM ,Commons Wikisource.
  • Motivated to join  audiences contributors / volunteers on Hindi Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects.
  • Since there were three most important community ie Students, Scientist(BARC and other institutions) and govt. Officials and of course Press from TV and print media, present purpose of spreading knowledge presence wikimedia movement fulfilled successfully.
  • Discussed with Mr. Hrishkesh Mishr, Dr Kulwant Singh from “Hindi Vigyan Sahitya Parishad” (हिंदी विज्ञान साहित्य परिषद्) BARC,Mumbai about How can we do some joint program at their school students and other academicians.   
  • Discussed in detail with Mr. Rahul Singh ( Dy. Director, Directorate of Culture and Archaeology, Govt. of Chhattisgarh) about various possibilities of doing different projects jointly with Wikimedia.
  • Got good coverage in Media and Press.
I also contributed over 50 photographs to Commons which I clicked during this visit.
