 About     

Hi, I’m Deo Bernedy, a dedicated Wikimedian from Indonesia based in Lampung.

I serve as the co-founder and community coordinator of the Bandar Lampung Wikimedia Community (Komunitas Wikimedia Bandar Lampung), where I lead initiatives aimed at expanding public access to open knowledge and safeguarding Indonesia’s linguistic and cultural diversity. Through programs such as WikiLatih, WikiTutur, and regular community meetups, I have actively facilitated knowledge-sharing, capacity-building, and grassroots participation across various local audiences.

As a committed contributor to Indonesian Wikipedia, Wiktionary, and other Wikimedia projects, my work centers on enriching content related to regional languages, international relations, and local cultures—areas I believe are vital to inclusive knowledge ecosystems. I bring a strong interdisciplinary foundation to my advocacy, bridging global understanding with local wisdom through collaborative platforms.

Driven by a deep passion for language preservation, I have played a leading role in documenting Lampungic languages, particularly the endangered Lampung Pesisir variety. By utilizing tools like Lingua Libre and Wiktionary, I have helped ensure that these linguistic heritages are not only recorded but also made accessible for future generations. This work contributes directly to the global effort of protecting intangible cultural heritage, while also empowering local communities to take part in shaping their own narratives.

I welcome opportunities to collaborate with fellow advocates, researchers, and open knowledge enthusiasts who share a commitment to multilingualism, cultural sustainability, and equitable access to knowledge.
