Hi @Chelsea Chiovelli (WMCA), I'm not sure how much involvement you had with setting up this event, but since you created the page for it, I thought I'd turn to you. I had hoped to attend and wasn't able to, but the topic is still interesting to me. Do you know if the session was recorded and if there's a way I could view it at this point? Cheers! Hi @Revirvlkodlaku, thanks for reaching out! Yes, the session was recorded. It was a long weekend for me and my coworkers so we're just getting started today with translating the captions into French and preparing the recording for upload. We'll add the links to the event page once the recording is ready and I'll make sure to ping you here as well.

We’re excited to invite you to an inspiring global virtual gathering: the first Capacity Exchange Translat-a-thon.

Together with Language Diversity Hub, the Capacity Exchange (CapX) team will host its first Translation Marathon dedicated to ensuring linguistic equity in access to this amazing tool aimed to connect Wikimedians.
If you enjoy contributing to Wikimedia projects through translating and adapting content into different languages, this event is for you! Join us in the celebration of the multilingual spirit of the Wikimedia Movement at an event where communities that contribute in diverse languages will be able to share local knowledge and collaborate across borders.

Trump hasn't taken us over yet!

Thanks for your message. I just want to clarify that the infobox on the event registration page says Timezone: America/[the city nearest you] as a reference to your time zone being in the continental Americas (North America). It does not mean to imply that you live in the United States or that Canada is part of the United States. I do hope that we will see you at the next WikiClub Canada meeting on February 11th.

I'm afraid I disagree. When Trump talks about "Make America Great Again" he's not talking about time zones or the western hemisphere. He's talking about America invading Venezuela and kidnapping a head of state. He's talking about America annexing Greenland by force. And he's talking about America making Canada the 51st state. The more Wikimedia uses the term "America" the less I want to participate. Buzfuz ~2026-39337-7 (talk) 22:39, 18 January 2026 (UTC)
