General feedback[edit]

For the "Mixed search results with icons" option, I would prefer larger icons (maybe 2x wider and 2x higher). I like the "visually distinct" option to make quotes and news look different, but would prefer to display the project icon there too. I'm not a fan of the small/crowded frwiki icon presentation. --KSmith (WMF) (talk) 17:53, 30 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

"please see this page: Interwiki Search."—there's no link!

Does it make sense yet to consider the the difficulty associated with various alternatives? My understanding is that mixed results are very hard to do. Scoring is hard (but it's just math and I have ideas), but fetching the right number of results and being able to generate a second page of results would be a pain. I also really like the visually distinct interwiki search results, but generating them could require parsing the raw wikitext, which is not guaranteed to be in any particular format on any particular page; that could be a lot of work. Extracting info from WDQS could help a lot in many cases, but probably not all.

Overall, I'm most interested to see what other people have to say about the various alternatives. I can imagine scenarios where people could love or hate the various results and the different formats for the results.
