inform me too on what you are doing please :-) oscar 03:53, 20 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

reply[edit]

Thanks for your post on user_talk:yxtiger that recommend me to have a userpage. Yes, I've already have one, zh:冷玉 ^_^ --Yxtiger 05:24, 5 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know - and no offence! I haven't had the chance to look at it properly yet, but looks interesting. Collaboration wikicity - didn't even know about it - but will definitely pooch around. Cormaggio @ 18:44, 10 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hm?[edit]

Sorry, if I'm wrong, but presumably you send me an email yesterday (content If you tried to participate in the wikiversity vote, please confirm that your vote is being counted - probably one and the same text went to masses of users). I don't really know why you send it especially to me. Anyway, I only want to let you know now, that I don't like such touting announcements very much (especially without any previous contact or obvious personal relationship to the topic). Wikiversity[edit]

Re: User_talk:Cormaggio#Wikiversity_priorities

I was just thinking exactly the same things - it seems some people are nervous about setting up a space which purports to be a university just yet. So I think Wikiversity might very well, as you say, develop incrementally from a resource repository into a new kind of wiki-based learning space. I proposed during that meeting that we conduct some feasability studies to see what Wikiversity needs to reach this point (by the way, sorry for not notifying you about that - I had meant to but clean forgot). In any case, we need a page like Moving Wikiversity forward, please rename and redirect if you don't like it. Also, thanks for your comments on my media literacy course - I'll try and work on it a bit more over the next week or so. Cormaggio @ 23:57, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re: report[edit]

No, I saw it and don't have access - however I'm with its author on IRC now so I'll ask him. Cormaggio @ 19:22, 13 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiversity Proposal Tasks and Schedule[edit]

Hi JW,

I have asked Cormaggio specifically when the Wikiversity proposal is going to be submitted to the Board for authorization to proceed with permanent dedicated URLs and wiki space. I get nothing back but vague generalities. Mr. Wales has indicated on the public Foundation mailing list in response to queries that to the best of his knowledge Wikiversity (within some appropriate initial scope) has overwhelming support from every single Board Member. The only holdup on its approval and activation is the complete lack of any information from the Wikiversity community/proponents in response to the Board's fairly minor inquiries. In view of this information do you have a feel for what specific tasks need to be completed and when they be finished? Is this a manpower issue or coordination issue between the appointed members of the activation committee? Is it a matter of final technical editing of wording such that a majority of the five acting committee members agree it is ready to go? I, and possibly others, would appreciate some specific information if it is available on how we can proceed immediately as there has been no visible action for months in the public space. Thanks. user:lazyquasar

Thanks for your reply to this, John. In your reply, you said that the main page on Wikibooks needs to be "trashed" in order to reflect the current proposal. Is Wikiversity/Example more what you were talking about? (Have you seen that page?) Cheers. Cormaggio @ 08:11, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks! On that "open invitation", I've mentioned Wikiversity/Example in my mail to foundation-l [1] so hopefully others will pitch in too. Cormaggio @ 17:09, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You've been doing absolutely astounding work on Meta over the last few days, John - I can't thank you enough. I'll comment more substantially on relevant talk pages, but just this question for now: is it all new content, what you've written here? Also, by the way, I moved the above page to the Wikiversity "namespace" - though I hadn't looked at the amount of pages that linked there before I did that - feel free to move it back. Cormaggio @ 12:44, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, the addition of the namespace wasn't to suggest that this page should stay at Meta - I hope that most of these documents become useful on Wikiversity as it develops. Some pages will need to stay here at Meta (such as the current proposal) as an archive of Wikiversity's planning phase, but yes, let's work towards keeping much of this work relevant to the future too. Thanks. Cormaggio @ 13:37, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Comment "Video play in wiki pages" on Eloquence's talk page[edit]

Hey JWSchmidt, you might get some headway if you talk to Gregory Maxwell. He programs and runs the Java video/audio player on Wikimedia's toolserver, and I saw him mention once that he could do some additional programming to get it embedded into MediaWiki pages. I recommend contacting him by e-mail. Cheers, Iamunknown 21:00, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Javert on the Job[edit]

Surf's Up!

Horrors. Javert on the Job has gone and done a silly thing. He reverted one of your updates to Adrignola.

Wait, what?[edit]

So, I'm totally not commenting on the subject itself and the ethical implications of certain actions or not, etc...

But I'm terribly interested why in this diff you're linking to a user's userpage while on his talkpage? - I mean, is he going to be confused about which user he is or something? :D Kylu 14:51, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, but how's wikilinking to their userpage helping? I can think of other ways you could bring attention to things. :) Kylu 15:02, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So, basically, you're using the linking to show that you're addressing that person specifically. I suppose that makes sense, even if I'm dubious of its efficacy. Feel free to remove the blink if it drives you batty, also! Kylu 16:55, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
