Translation

[edit]

Oooh... am I about to be translated by Mets? :) I hope so!

How did the exams go? If they've finished, and when Sam, Martin and Max are available, we ought to have an AWB meet up and get cracking on v4. I'll be available in about a week, but I'm up and running on my new system now at least. Cheers. --Kingboyk 21:00, 20 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yep, translation coming right up! :-) And we should definitely have a meet up. It's summer vacation now for me, so I've got time. I'll probably be taking a wikibreak for about a month, however (basically the entire month of July), as I'll be in Spain most likely without Internet access. But a meet up before that would be great. —METS501 (talk) 21:06, 20 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good luck

[edit]

Good luck on your RFA and the Board election. :-) FloNight 01:00, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

For the Board election, thank you very much! As for the RFA, I'm a little surprised it's considered a big deal - since seemingly it is, and since I don't want to mute people who might oppose but don't want to prejudice my chances in the Board election, I think I'd better withdraw from that. It's no big deal to me: this is our cross-wiki business site and I thought I might be able to help out that's all :) Thanks again Flo. --Kingboyk 10:42, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'm surprised also. I thought that having admin tools and using them wisely on another major Foundation project would satisfy the average person giving an opinion. I'm not sure what I'm missing here. I can not disagree with your decision to withdraw since that was the most collaborative approach. Hopefully your collaborative nature will come through and help you in your other endeavors. Take care, FloNight 12:29, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your statement.

[edit]

Dear Stephen, you wrote in your statement the following: "I'm an administrator on the English Wikipedia, an AWB developer, and I have co-written several Featured Articles." Meanwhile, it is reported that in the AWB itself it is written that you are "one of 5 Actively maintainers", while developers are User:Bluemoose and User:Ligulem. Could you clear this? Thank you! Dr Bug (Vladimir V. Medeyko) 11:33, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

This is a strange question. Bluemoose and Ligulem retired long ago. "Active maintainer" and "developer" are pretty much the same. I contribute code to the repository, that makes me a developer :) If you would like to clarify this please consult with the other developers or ask on the AWB IRC channel. Cheers. --Kingboyk 17:24, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Bluemoose has also left en.wikipedia. [1] shows a better/more accurate developer list. AWB does say that Bluemoose and Ligulem created it, which, is very much the case. The 'Maintainers' have taken over the full maintenance and development of AWB. Reedy Boy 17:31, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Sam. Just to clarify: Sam and I deduced on MSN that you must be referring to what the About box says. The folks listed as "maintainers" are perhaps being a bit modest there; we've taken over where Martin (Bluemoose) left off. The version 4 we're working on is something he would hardly recognose - it has many new features. I'll ask the guys if they want to change the About box but fear not I have told the truth :) If there remains any doubt you may consult with Russian-speaker User:MaxSem who is pretty much de facto lead developer. Cheers. --Kingboyk 17:36, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Dear Stephen, sorry if you saw any signs of insult in my question. I'm not expert in AWB, I haven't even ever run it. And really, I don't care much who are developers of this excellent tool. :-) There is just a question from some Russian user of it, who is going to vote in the elections, and so I readdressed his question directly to you, supposing that it's always good to have an information from the primary source. I would check it, wouldn't I!? I don't doubt your good faith, and never I did. I suppose, you explanations are more than enough, and I'll come back to one who initially asked the question. Thank you very much, and good luck to you with AWB and the elections! :-) Dr Bug (Vladimir V. Medeyko) 00:45, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
No, no signs of insult, just concern that my Russian friends might think I wasn't telling the truth :) Thanks for clearing that up. Cheers. --Kingboyk 08:50, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
By the way, finally I voted for you among ohter six candidates, due to your statement and answers to the questions you were asked :-). Dr Bug (Vladimir V. Medeyko) 08:43, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Excellent, thanks! Now we have to wait for the result :) --Kingboyk 11:20, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
