Darkest period in their history.[edit]

Hello, while I appreciate that you are taking action with regards to the Ukraine cultural month. The following sentence was very inconsiderate.

""We sincerely thank everyone, who expressed words of support in the times of one of the darkest periods of our history." Excuse me? Where is your reliable source cite that Wikimedia is going thru one of its darkest periods in its history?"

The fellow editor was alluding to the fact that he was ukranian, and that they are going through their darkest time in history. I am not sure whether out of ignorance or lack of consideration, but you can imagine how their importance of Wikimedia would pale in comparision to their war. I hope you can empathize and recant there.

It was neither out of ignorance (never read he said he was Ukrainian, and still fail to see where you are claiming he wrote that) nor out of lack of consideration (actually, it was precisely because I was being considerate to everyone that I opened up that entire discussion when that page was still blank.
""We sincerely thank everyone, who expressed words of support in the times of one of the darkest periods of our history."'.....Anyone can say that without being Ukrainian, including someone in the staff of the project speaking on behalf of the project. Someone from, say, Egypt could feel the world is going thru its darkest time in the planet's history, and write that. I am afraid you are jumping to a conclusion (whether you happen to be right or not it's irrelevant; the fact is, the individual never identified himself as Ukrainian.)
So, no, there's no basis for recanting anything. I am sorry (for you), but you have the wrong person in me. Mercy11 (talk) 00:17, 8 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
