GLAM-wiki conference Tel Aviv 2018: ethics
Dear Mohammad, My name is Sam Donvil and i work for PACKED vzw: center of expertise for digital heritage for Flanders and Brussels. As an organisation we try to encourage heritage institutions to open up their collections online. One aspect of this is opening up collections on third party platforms and are currently active in accompanying institutions to make image and data donations to Wikimedia platforms. It is ofcourse interesting for us to exchange ideas, approaches and tools with others doing the same work around the world. An opportunity for doing this would be the GLAM-wiki conferences.
You are probably aware that coming novembre, there will be a GLAM-wiki conference in Tel Aviv. While from a programma point of view, we are definitely interested, we have some questions towards the ethics of organising such an event in Israel. While I understand that the Israeli Wikimedia community is simply rather active, I feel like it would be important to at least acknowledge that this is not an obvious choice and that there needs to be an effort towards inclusivity towards Palestinians, something I don't see reflected in the program. What is your personal and perhaps the wider view among the Palestinian Wikimedia community?

After organizing five editions of the education program at the Palestinian schools and universities,(first one, the second one, the third one, the fourth one, and the fifth one) and participating in three more programs, I gained a good experience in how to motivate students that I would like to share.
My presentation will be addressed to teachers, students, and learners and will focus on some effective ways of how to motivate participated students so that they can contribute efficiently.
