Mass Message use in translations

[edit]

Hey MrBenjo!

Over the past 24 hours you have sent a notification to 3712 users in 5 waves. I would urge you to reconsider using this tool for translations that are not urgent or vital for the projects. Please let me know if you have any questions. Nadzik (talk) 10:17, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

I wasn't aware about the fact that these messages get immediately sent to those users. I thought that they are shown in a monthly report or so and that every major translation should be communicated with this tool. But thanks for letting me know. –MrBenjo (talk) 10:44, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Translation notice for a draft

[edit]

Hiya! I noticed one of the pages you requested translation of with a medium importance (this page) is actually a draft, and thus tells me that translation is not recommended. Is this intentional? EdoAug (talk) 22:02, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

In fact, I have discouraged users from the translation, as I noticed too late that the page is still a draft. The page should not be translated at this point, but I already enabled translation, so I could only discourage the translators from doing so (which seems to be not that effective). Please excuse the premature request of translation. I already have been advised of this above and will avoid in next time. Thanks for asking. –MrBenjo (talk) 08:01, 9 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Translation admin

[edit]

Good day, please reacquaint yourself with Meta:Internationalization guidelines. Translation unit 4 at Special:Diff/28234967 shouldn't have been reused as the content of it is wholly different. Moreover, you should've split the bullet points into individual translation unit. Yes, you did not add them, but you marked the page for translation, so you should've ensured that the issues that I've mentioned were fixed prior to marking the page. ----Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 13:26, 22 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your feedback. I don't quite understand your criticism, as the content of the unit was not changed at all and only minor structural changes took place. The help page says: "Removing markers treats modified units as entirely new, making it harder to compare changes in the translation administrator's interface", so I did not remove them. Concerning the list, I followed the rule in the guideline that up to 160 words can be in a non-separated list. I don't want to say that your changes are wrong, but just explain how I understand the guidelines. I would appreciate it if you tell me why you took these steps. Thanks, –MrBenjo (talk) 13:51, 22 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
You marked the page for translation on 9th Feb. Which includes this edit. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 03:44, 23 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
I am aware of that. And I told you, why I did the stuff you criticized. So, I wanted you to explain to me, why you later on changed it to the proposal you've made above. MrBenjo (talk) 12:22, 23 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Like I've mentioned in the edit summary, changing the text in a translation unit that has no impact on its meaning will only create more job for translators. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 14:02, 23 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Wrong link, sorry. This is the edit, where you implemented the changes you described above. I just wanted to understand, how you come to the conclusion that the unit needs to be replaced completely (so that the same content has to be translated again) and the list split up, and in which way this is supported by the guidelines. –MrBenjo (talk) 14:20, 23 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
It's because of this edit. Only 3 translations were fixed after it was marked as outdate so I just split the unit into three as per the guideline. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 14:55, 23 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'd like to remind you of this again. Refrain from including bullets into the translation unit as seen here. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 05:55, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oh, missed that one. I will try to keep an eye on that. Thanks again, –MrBenjo (talk) 14:37, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Lingua Libre

[edit]

Why is Lingua Libre no longer working? Supermomlady (talk) 07:26, 7 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I don't think that I am the right person to help you with your problem connected to Lingua Libre, as I am not involved in this project. As far as I can tell, the website is perfectly working. If you have an issue concerning the project, try to contact the staff, have a look at the chat room or join the Discord server. I am sorry that I couldn't provide any help, but I hope you find a solution. Regards, –MrBenjo (talk) 13:32, 7 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Help with marking a page for translation

[edit]

Hello @MrBenjo! I see that you are a translation admin, and that you have kindly collaborated with other campaigns. I'm a campaign organizer and this Event page needs to be marked for translations, so we can invite our translators to add their languages: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Event:VisibleWikiWomen_2025

There is also a template for the header: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:VisibleWikiWomen_2025_header Is this something that you can also mark and make translatable?

Thank you so much! Mariana Fossatti (WK?) (talk) 15:57, 21 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi, sorry for the delay. The event page was already enabled for translation by another user. I just prepared the header, hope it still helps. Regards, –MrBenjo (talk) 11:50, 13 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Create a new Wikimedia wiki

[edit]

Hi MrBenjo! Could you please kindly have a look at T400001 Create a Wiki for Wikimedia Thailand (created on 20 July)? My colleagues @Wutkh and Athikhun.suw: are looking forward to working on the new site. We are not sure about whom to talk to. As you are the last person to edit the page, we would like to ask for your kind advice/suggestion on how to follow-up on the request. --Taweethaも (talk) 05:36, 3 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi, seems like it's already resolved. I would not have been able to help you anyway, as I just reverted some vandalism on the page. –MrBenjo (talk) 11:52, 13 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
