Hi, saw your Flowchart extension. I'd like to show you Graph::Easy :), and also ask what you think of it, especially if there are things that cannot done with Graph::Easy, but can be done with your extension. (Or how you think your example could be done with my extension)

Best wishes,

Hello Ruud,

just answer your questions:

Hi Tels,

Thanks for your comment on the FlowChart extension. I think it is currently being surpassed by the mscgen extension that allows a more graphical way of building flow charts. A bit alike your perl stuff. For flowcharts in general the drawing capabilities can by quite minimal, as a result I think that a specific extension for that purpose is still usefull. Is your Graph extension based on the "dot" tools? I currently use the graphviz extension for drawing graphs.

Best regards,

Ruud

My extension has its own parser, so it does not need the dot tools for parsing the input (either in Graph::Easy or the DOT language). It also brings its own layouter, so it can render HTML, ASCII, Unicode and SVG on its own.

That means you can use it on hosts even when you can't compile graphviz.

Of course, it allows also to use the dot tools to render PNG files, so if you have graphviz installed, it can use that as render/layout backend.

Please see the manual for details, especially the overview and the feature list.

As for the mscgen extension, never heard of that and you link on my talk page doesn't work. And I hope it doesn't re-invent the wheel yet again as far as flowchart-rendering extensions go :)

All the best,
