- Abstract (maximum 500 words)
During the past two years Tamil wikipedia has tried to collaborate with two big corporates - Google and Microsoft. The Google translation project was a large scale community wide effort which saw tens of Tamil wikipedians put in thousands of man hours to make the project work and ultimately fail. The other one is the Microsoft's Wikibasha tool project, which after some initial missteps, went in the right direction but has stalled due to community disinterest. This presentation will document the backgrounds of, the community experience and the lessons learnt from both projects.
