Abstract (maximum 500 words)

I think my participation at this conference will be of benefit to me, Wikimedia Kenya and to the Indian Wikipedians. For Wikimedia India, I will be able to share my experiences in carrying out offline Wikipedia projects in Kenya and how we have managed to build a small but vibrant volunteer culture in Kenya -- which I believe is a challenge in developing countries. I also hope that I will manage to share some tips on how we managed to form Partnerships beyond the Kenyan borders -- we have managed to form a partnership with an NGO in Zanzibar and some guys from Botswana, and hope that we will continue spreading Wikimedia's footprint across East Africa and the whole of Africa. Personally, I'll be eager to know how the Global Education program is doing in India, and I do hope that we'll be able to carry out a similar project in Kenya. Overall, I feel that since we all come from the Global South, we have a lot in common and this will be a brilliant opportunity for us share ideas and carry out successful Wikimedia projects within our respectful countries.

Do you have a valid Indian VISA?

I do not have an Indian VISA but I would definately look for one if I get a scholarship to attend the conference. I am also applying for a full scholarship to this event.
