Wikipedia hold a vast volume of information. This information comes from enthusiastic and active individuals around the word. In 2011, Wikimedia Foundation released their Editor's Survey, according to this 9% of the Wikipedia editors were female. There are various studies conducted to identify the reason why there are less women contributors in Wikipedia. One of the several reasons identified is lack of confidence. The creative and knowledge potential of women is a latent source of information and should be encouraged. In an attempt to create awareness and to encourage women participation on Wikipedia, Marathi Wikipedia community has been organizing women’s edit-a-thon for past few years. This paper presents a brief summary of this activity conducted to encourage women participation.
