Wiki Patrika - a community e-megazine

Abstract/description of your session

The Assamese Wikimedia community releases a monthly newsletter called ‘Wiki Patrika’ highlighting the updates from various platforms such as Assamese Wikipedia, Wikisource (Assamese), Wikiquote (Assamese) and Wikimedia Commons. This presentation will share the evolution, components and impacts of this Wiki Patrika over the years. The Assamese Wiki Patrika presents the new articles added in Wikipedia, featured pictures, articles and quotes, notable Wikimedians and a list of Wiki Barnstars every month. We also share a list of the most active Wikimedians to encourage further contribution. Moreover, this Patrika publishes a musing piece from a Wikimedian called ‘Monor Kotha’ that reflects their personal journey in Assamese Wikimedia projects. Thus, Assamese Wiki Patrika shares and promotes various wiki projects and plays an important role in community building.

How does it connect with the WCI 2023 theme/focus

Participants will learn from the experience shared in running this creative project. Also they will get ideas on running similar project at their place to make the community more functionable.
