POWER OF APPRICIATION

[edit]

Abstract/description of your session

[edit]

Appreciation is a basic human need. But mostly we don't praise anyone. We especially don't appreciate new users coming to write on Wikipedia. We think this praise is unnecessary. What are we going to lose by saying these two words, I appreciate you, your article was wonderful. Do you know how powerful that little pat we give them on the back is? We should consider the fact that 64% of Americans leave their jobs without this little appreciation. Appreciation gives the user a purpose! Changing the user's feelings! Creates positive thinking. Appreciation gives them respect. Acknowledging his achievements. We truly make a difference to them.

How does it connect with the WCI 2023 theme/focus

[edit]

The contribution of new users is crucial to the growth of the growing Indian Wikipedia communities. We need to retain new users who come in by accident. It is very important to pass on the practices we have tried and learned over the years to the next generation. So we should adopt the habit of appreciating new users as an effort to retain them. This conference will emphasize that the whole Wikipedia community should realize that this praise will help the new user become a regular user.
