What is your idea?

Hausa Community Roles Assigning And MeetUp : This will be a great meeting all over hausa community in wikimedia movement, the expectations is to gather members, from the community to deliberate on certain key areas from around the entire nigeria and northern nigeria to be precise. the 19 northern states in nigeria are predominantly hausa speaking states and those few that are not have greater numbers of hausa speaking citizens ranging from people speaking hausa as their first or second language. the meeting will involve the entire hausa community leaders, hausa wikipedia administrators and hausa wikipedia community members as a whole. this will also serve as a meeting that will bring to table and discuss ideas that will lead to strenghtning credibilty on wikimedia movement, overall information system, coordination within the community, organised organisation and roles assignment of leadership in the community in other to enhance sustainability, create avenue for new editors to ask questions, knows their leaders, knows harrasment and the necessary ways to report it, And also be friendly with wikimedia friendly space policy. the meeting will also serve as a means of educating the community more by providing workshops that will shared enough experience on the Universal Code Of Conduct, Friendly Space Policy, and the Wikimedia Movement Strategy.


Why is it important?

1. We really need this meetup in the community because we need a working system of leadership. where roles will be assign to members of the community and offices will be shared with certain responsibilities. 2. there's been massive complain in the community that the community lacks coordination and organisation, and unfunctioning system of leadership and means of retaining newbies is not the way it should be. 3. for a credible wikimedia space, editors need to know what it takes exactly to edit this refers to referencing, article writing, licensing and also copywright. the issue of copy and plagiarism is also important here. this meeting will give an utmost advantage for new editors to all get enough head start on all these topics. 4. Our community need as much information they can get on Universal Code Of Conduct, Wikimedia Friendly Space Policy and Wikimedia Movement Strategy 2030. this is because its all the angle wikimedia is now moving towards to the dream is 2030. this meaning will bring well experienced wikimedians from the community to talked to the whole community about these development in thier native language for better understanding and for carrying our community fully along towards the 2030 dream.

Is your project already in progress?

NO, this project is first of its kind that tries to accumulate all the weak angles in an entire Hausa Community and tries to solve it.


How is this project relevant to credibility and Wikipedia?

First of foremost this project is absolutely inline with wikipedia and credibility, because. 1. it all about hausa community in the wikipedia ecosystem. 2. its about assign leadership roles to wikimedians in other for smooth movement in the hausa community. 3. it entails grooming workshops and seminars that will create a direct link between the leaders, experience editors, and the newbee to share experience. 4. it entails discussions on latest issues in the wikimedia movement ranging from Movement strategy, UCOC, Friendly space policy to carry our community along. 5. it also include a through discussions and classes on referencing, policies, plagiarism, licencing, and copy right and public domain policy and the materials that are free for wikimedia used. in other to strengthen the credibility of wikimedia ecosystem in general.


What is the ultimate impact of this project?

The impact of this particular project cannot be overemphasized , this is because of the need of this project in hausa community. - hausa communty need an active leadership system thats working. - hausa community need to be updated on what's happening in the movement and this project will serve as a kickstart to all that, so that the whole community will be carried along. - the community needs an organised orientation on organisation, working as a team and the spirit of team work. - the community needs a meetup that will bring it together to discuss raising issues in the community, from development, success, failures, and even problems. so also making it a room to share experience and an evenue for the new editors to get to meet with the experienced editors to recieved information first hand and be able to asked questions and get a reliable clearification.


Can your project scale?

Yes indeed, this is something thats been bordering the whole community, this with utmost inclusion of leaders in the community will reach a greater height!


Why are you the people to do it?

first of all me and my team are considered to be leaders of hausa community, we have among us the administrators in the community for years and years of experience in the wikimedia movement. and most of the cases of disorganisation comes to us directly sometimes by the community, in the space or physical. we also knows about this and we been doing all possible to curtail this. and also we been planning and putting pens to paper in orther to organised something like this so as to solved these problems once and for all, so seeing this oppurtunity we decise to utilised it.

We also plan to invite anyone in the community that's have a role to play in making sure these problem have been solved.


What is the impact of your idea on diversity and inclusiveness of the Wikimedia movement?

This project is solemly and directly meant to include hausa community in the recent rich development of the wikimedia, it seeks to include the diverse community of hausa native speakers to be defined as one entity with a centered leadership and organised system of leadedrship in the community. it seeks to include people from underrepresented community in the hausa community who are speaking hausa as thier first or second language in the whole country.


What are the challenges associated with this project and how you will overcome them?

1. leadership challenges 2. orgasational challenges 3. rich development in the movement challenges 4. inclusion challenges 5. lack of extensive awareness in the movement [UCOC, MOVEMENT STRATEGY, FRIENDLY SPACE POLICY ] 6. lack a working harrasment report system in the local community [hausa community] 7. lack of an avenue to share experience 8. lack of identified assign leadership roles

  1. We will all try to bring our community down in other to address all these issues for a better functioning community


How will you spend your funds?

We will be spending the funds to Transportation of our community members accross Northern Nigeria, Accomodation, Fliers, Certificate, Communication Vouchers, Merchandise, Hall, Childcare, Refreshment And Contingency.


How long will your project take?

This project will take 3 months from arranging the whole process to the main exercution of the project with the leadership arrangement and roles assigning.


Have you worked on projects for previous grants before?

Indeed, i have worked on atleast 20 grants as a lead organiser myself, from workshops to trainings, to edithathons, to offline and offline awareness, photowalks and even wikimania 2022.
