What is your idea?

Want to create opportunities for scholarships to 45 students who want to go for journalism course at Tamiranashe College

Why is it important?

I want to empower 45 young women Jounalist from the roots, and this will give them more knowledge to handle their work. After empowering the students, we can establish a community radio station in Norton.

Is your project already in progress?

We are already operating the college and we are working from grassroots and school of journalism is the one we want to introduce, and this will give the students opportunities of sharing ideas with senior journalist. We already have retired journalist ang currently journalist who are willing to work with our school to empower and build future journalist.

How is this project relevant to credibility and Wikipedia?

The History of our organization is in the same spirit as Kim. in celebrating her we want to create an ongoing Kim through starting a journalism school in Zimbabwe. When we empower 45 girls from grassroot, we will keep on growing to a big school Kim Journalism school in Africa.

What is the ultimate impact of this project?

If you empower the women, you have empowered the whole nation. If the women are empowered and have their news house or employed as Jounalist. These women are going to stand for other women in media. Women are not including in decision making, news foe women are reported negatively, and sometimes the achievements of women are not recognized.

Can your project scale?

This is an ongoing project of school of journalism with time we will include young boys, and this will become a big KIM College of Journalism in Africa, we expect other students from Zimbabwe and around Africa, we will also with the help of Kim partner with international Journalism colleges.

Why are you the people to do it?

Currently I am in India I am finishing by 18 December Diploma in leadership and social change. We did part of journalism program I was so impressed; I want young women in my country to be empowered to that extend women judges, prosecutors and lawyers. We had an event that we interacted with Kerera school of Journalism I have learned a lot that if you support us, we will give you proud, this will be a very big birthday gift. Our team is made up of 5 Jounalists who are much willing to start a community project from grassroots.

What is the impact of your idea on diversity and inclusiveness of the Wikimedia movement?

This project is an ongoing life project that will remove women from poverty, it will create more jobs of the staff at the school. From the national station that the women is going to develop will reach to over 54000 population of Norton, ang this will go and cover the country and creates more opportunities of women. The programs will benefit women in mining, farming, trade borders and in all sectors like agriculture manufacturing to mention a few.

What are the challenges associated with this project and how you will overcome them?

The main challenge is the materials that will be used to create a radio station, so that students will learn from the project. The school is already running, and journalism is an additional subject.

How will you spend your funds?

One student will need $100 to cover her tuition and buy her own materials to use. We are going to work for the pilot project with the qualified volunteers from universities and the retired Jounalist who want to live legacy in community.

How long will your project take?

This is a one-year pilot project, that will give us a way to move on till we are a big journalism school.

Have you worked on projects for previous grants before?

I'm finishing my diploma at Kanthri and I know how to run an NGO, finance, grant management, monitoring and evaluation.
