Report on the Participation of Abakar B at WikiIndaba 2023 in Agadir, Morocco
Overview[edit]
I'm Abakar B, Wikimedian from Chad.
I had the chance to attend 2019 Wikiindaba in Abuja-Nigeria and in 2023 Wikiindaba, in Agadir, Morocco. An organization and a conference that will have been a good networking moment.
Outcome[edit]
The overall organization was a success. The sessions, as well as other organizational elements such as meals, a.ccommodation and travel for participants, were well organized.
The social event was a great success, with the discovery of several Moroccan folklore groups and the surprise at the water's edge - with the inscribed text "WikiIndaba 2023", which sparkled to the rhythm of the flames to warm our hearts and glow in the night
Impact[edit]
What impact the conference had on you and community plans, and what actions will you undertake to share learnings with your community?
I learned what documentation is. Yes, many people don't have the facility to read documents, even to prepare them, which is the case in my community, especially when it comes to the MCDC, the Charter of the Governance Movement, etc. But to the extent that I understood what it is and how important it is for an affiliate, a user group or an individual to take part in decision-making, this will have an impact on my community. Thanks to me, it will be easy to introduce all this for people who are eager to move from being under-represented to being champions of the movement. It will take time, yes, after all, we have to grow organically, but the future of the best movement in the world is in our hands.
