Abstract: In 2022, we explored the possibility of engaging volunteers to contribute to Wikisource. The response was positive with a number of texts edited and new knowledge on tools for Wikisource gained. Along the way, we were helped by the wider Wikimedia community and since then we have been organised GLAM on Tour to the Kyambogo University Library's digitisation unit and adapted an editing guide for Wikisource locally. How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region? Participants and organisers will : Gain insights into the unique experience and results of Uganda while considering and delving further in Wikisource including an edit-a-thon, GLAM on Tour and future plans; Gain valuable insights into organising and managing a Wikisource campaign ; Exploring the gaps and other challenges that exist in Wikisource especially in the African context and responses ; Explore ways to include editors that may be discouraged by or bored with other Wikimedia projects e.g Wikipedia ; Explore ways of including professional archivists into Wikimedia projects and activities ; Establishing the relevance of archival material-related projects in the African context ;
