Abstract:

The success of the Wikimedia movement is underpinned, so far, by its ability to build pockets of knowledge communities (both virtual and otherwise). The extent to which we are able to found, build and sustain knowledge communities remains crucial to the viability of the projects. This session will highlight steps to consider in building a viable knowledge community in the Wikimedia movement drawing proven principles from examples in the Igbo Wikimedia Usergroup.
