Abstract:

Wikimedia Community User Group Uganda was approved on the 25 June 2018 and from that time it has been creating and editing Uganda related content on the different Wikimedia Foundation projects. But one of it challenges has been bringing onboard new editors/volunteers and retaining them to keep contributing.

This session will take people through the journey of how Wiki Uganda managed to retain its editors and it turned them into events organisers and mentors for the new editors. And also how it overcame some of the challenges.

  1. Wikimedia Communities will learn from the experiences of Wikimedia Community User Group Uganda on how it managed to retain some of its editors and turned them into event organiser and trainers for the new editors.
