Abstract:
African Wikimedians now have a collective action; The Africa Agenda, which documents challenges, opportunities and recommendations to some of the most pressing issues facing the community.
This session seeks to engage African Wikimedians and other movement stakeholders attending Wikimania 2024 on the implementation of the Africa Agenda as we demonstrate the impact of regional collaboration within the continent.
It also aims to explore strategies for enhancing collaboration and representation among African Wikimedians to amplify the representation of African knowledge and perspectives on Wikimedia platforms. Through interactive discussions and case studies, participants will delve into best practices, innovative approaches, and potential solutions to overcome barriers and strengthen collaboration across diverse linguistic, cultural, and geographical contexts.

How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region?
Attendees will gain insights on how to develop foundation/community collaboration, addressing language diversity, and empowering underrepresented communities to contribute meaningfully to the Wikimedia movement.
