- Abstract (up to 300 words to describe your proposal)
The discussion intends to cover 4 ways that Wikimedians can contribute to Wikimedia projects such as Wikipedia using a different route rather than the de-facto means of starting articles / wiki-pages from scratch (in most cases) which are very useful and delicate on-wiki that will be beneficial to both the audience and themselves.
The main idea here is for people who want to start writing their own articles from scratch but do not know how to get started. They’ll use these approaches to learn the various policies of WP or other wikis in preparation for them to start writing their own articles and the key results of this discussion will be ways to maintain reliable content on-wiki (from the Wikipedias in various languages - Technical wikis).
- What will attendees take away from this session?
WP: stands for Wikipedia
Often times, starting an article (on WP for example) is a huge deal as the writer will have to think through what will go into the stub (not too hard) or the actual article. So, to bootstrap yourself into how you can start writing your own articles there quicker ways to learn and get started on writing your own articles rather than spend that time idling and not improving on your wiki skills.
Attendees will learn the 4 different ways on how to bootstrap themselves into becoming full-time Wiki editors in a very short period of time.
