This lightning talk aims to update WikiIndaba participants with the impact of the movement return African Cultural Heritage in European museums and address the colonial legacy. These activities often include recommendations to digitise museum objects and archives - which can have significant implications on IP rights and access. This appetite in Europe to take digital approaches to these "decolonial" initiatives - often has no input from African practitioners.
There is a potential role for African Wikimedians and their communities to shape strategy, discussions and activities around the digitization of African Cultural Heritage.
The aim is to establish a working group to lead and advise work in this area.
