Connections made

[edit]

Got to reconnect with many Wikimedians during my session on creating a peer volunteer network for African Wikimedians. This opened the window for other African Wikimedians who got interested in the network, we have great discussions and can not wait to see the network come to life. I also made quite a number of connections at the conference of old and new friends, amongst them were Euphemia, Joel, Camelia and Sherry.

Learning points

[edit]

I learnt a lot from the Wikimedia CEO Listening Tour where existing communities shared their expectations and experience. This made me understand their communities better. Also, tools on mapping and QR code by the Tunis was one of my favourite session which exposed me to newer platforms and initiatives for a stronger and better Wikimedia eco-system.

Lastly, I learnt how to use lexemes and Wikidata tools for accurate editing. Notforgetting the ISA tool for cool editting to improve projects and campaigns.

Outcome

[edit]
  • I expect to increase participation of SDG advocates in my region.
  • I expect to use the various wikidata games and other exciting platforms to engage children to become contributors
  • I hope to expand the African Volunteer Network group to ensure all voices are heard and challenges on-wiki are solved swiftly.
