The impact of colonisation in Africa has played a major role in the determination of the extent of the vitality and endangerment of many of the indigenous languages in Africa. Language is one of the core values of people and the identity of any nation. It's been established by the United Nations that “every two weeks, at least one indigenous language vanishes, leading to two language extinctions each month This panel tends to gather language enthusiasts across the movement to brainstorm on the role of Wikipedia and its sister project in supporting various activities, channelled at preserving indigenous languages. |
