What is WikiIndaba Conference 2023?
WikiIndaba Conference 2023 is the 8th edition of WikiIndaba, a regional conference for Africans both within and in the diaspora. This conference will be held from the 3rd to 5th November 2023 in the city of Agadir, Morocco. It is organized by Wikimedia MA User Group.
Who should attend WikiIndaba Conference 2023?
This conference is open to everyone, but is particularly geared for African Wikimedians who have an interest in Wikipedia, the Wikimedia movement and open knowledge. The primary goals of the conference is to Connect African Wikimedians and Build capacity for African Wikimedians. Any active contributor to a Wikimedia project and/or Wikimedia volunteer in any other capacity, from anywhere in Africa, is considered eligible.
Is WikiIndaba 2023 an In-person or Remote or Hybrid conference?
"WikiIndaba 2023" is a Hybrid conference. The program submission is open from 1 to 30 June 2023.
Scholarships
What is a WikiIndaba scholarship?
A scholarship is a grant given to an individual to enable them to attend WikiIndaba 2023 in person. This is achieved through the Wikimedia Foundation providing funds that will cover flights, transport, accommodation, and registration fees. There may also be partial scholarships which will cover accommodation, registration fees.
Note: Registration fees include access to the venue as well food & drinks during breaks.
Who reviews the submissions for the WikiIndaba Scholarship?
Submissions received during the application period will be reviewed by the Scholarships Committee. Please check the WikiIndaba 2023 team.
Where can I find support/help during the WikiIndaba application process?
The Core Organizing Team for WikiIndaba will provide support through answering questions coming in to contact
wikimorocco.org.
I am not part of an affiliate. Can I apply for a scholarship?
Yes, Individuals are able to apply for the scholarship.
Can I submit applications for a scholarship after the deadline?
To ensure that final decision results are released on-time in fairness to other applicants, late applications will not be accepted. It is recommended that applications are submitted at least a few days before the deadline to avoid missing it.
