Wiki Explores Sharjah - Phase I/Wikimedia introduction and ifthar-meet
On 6th April 2023, a Wikimedia workshop and group discussion were conducted in Sharjah, UAE, with the aim of attracting new volunteers to the Wikimedia movement. The workshop was held at the Mannat Restaurant, Al Nabba, Sharjah, where the attendees also participated in an ifthar meet.
The event was organized by Ameer Suhai and volunteer Akbarali introduced the attendees to Wikipedia and cleared up common misconceptions about the platform. The participants were also given a demonstration of How to create a user account and edit their user page.

All the participants showed enthusiasm and interest in contributing to Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. They were encouraged to continue editing and to invite their friends and family to contribute to the Wikimedia community. We hope to conduct more events like this in the future to attract more volunteers to the Wikimedia community and promote the use of open knowledge in the UAE.
