Wiki Loves Children 2021
Appearance
| According to UNICEF, more than half of the world's children experience severe violence, with an estimated 64 percent of these cases occurring in South Asia. UNICEF emphasizes that the most effective way to address violence—for both victims and witnesses—is through proactive prevention. It is noteworthy that, as an educational resource, no major initiatives have yet been taken to introduce themes of child abuse and neglect to Wikipedia communities within this region. Consequently, we are launching the inaugural "Wiki Loves Children" campaign on Bengali Wikipedia and Bengali Wikibooks. While Bengali Wikibooks hosts a dedicated project for children called Wikijunior (উইকিশৈশব), it is currently inactive. Our goal is to revitalize this project, enriching its content to support online learning for young students. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, this initiative can play a vital role in digital education, transforming Wikibooks (and specifically Wikijunior) into a child-friendly alternative to Wikipedia. | ||
