Wiki Loves Women/Focus Group/How to Contribute to Wikimedia from Zimbabwe 2023
This page will document events that will take place in Zimbabwe. The main objective is to empower and engage citizens of Zimbabwe to collect, develop and contribute educational and relevant content under a free license. Zimbabwe has a lot to offer on the wiki space but it has been so far not by the Zimbabweans hence the gap in the knowledge about Zimbabwe in the Wikimedia. Hence the need to engage in global knowledge systems by encouraging access to, awareness of, and support for open knowledge, the open movement and the Wikimedia projects, working in collaboration with like-minded organizations.
This initiative is related to the Wiki Loves Women project. Wiki Loves Women contributes towards the UN’s SDG 5 Gender Equity: achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls. Within the 2030 Wikimedia Strategy, the Wiki Loves Women project works towards resolving several recommendations, and in particular Invest in Skills and Leadership Development. One of the recurring initiatives of Wiki Loves Women is the #SheSaid drive.

Timeline/Activities[edit]
- First session - January 28 by Alice from Uganda. An introduction of Wikimedia summarizing to one lesson for the day. Zimbabweans need to know e overview of what Wiki is so that when we do other projects they have a clear picture.
- Second Session- February 11 by Tochie from Nigeria. She will talk on Wikimedia Incubator and WikiTongues. Specifically encouraging our language speaking people to create articles in their own language.
- Third Session - March 11 by Florence from France She will teach on Wikicommons, Wiki Loves Africa and ISA
- Forth Session - 25th of March. Our last session will be edit-a-thon looking at all we had learnt. Participants will focus on their interests. The dashboard will be recording all activities by participants.
- Award and Closing Ceremony - 22 April 2023
