Volunteer's contributions: Volunteers are the primary way that medical content is created and central to work of Wiki Project Med. The activities by people who are paid are intended to support, not replace the work of volunteer members.

Support for the global community: Wiki Project Med is both an indepedent not for-profit and an user group in the global Wikimedia movement. The other organizations that make up the wikimedia movement are natural partners with Wiki Project Med. External people and organizations with a shared interest are welcome to collaborate with Wiki Project Med.

Shared commitments: Wiki Med Foundation forms partnerships with other organization that are dedicated to sharing ownership of joint projects to make health information freely available. All partners need to have a full commitment for the planning and execution of the projects and programs.

Impact: It is essential to the success of the programs to measure the impact of the activities undertaken by Wikimedia Project Med, its members, and the partner organizations.

Partnerships[edit]

To facilitate the creation and curation of freely available global health information, Wiki Project Med forms partnerships with organizations with an aligned mission. See Wiki Project Med/partnerships for examples of current partnerships.

Partnership agreements[edit]

The partnership agreement is written to formalize the relationship and commitment to collaborate. An agreement establishes each partners’ commitments. Each partner has the opportunity to openly detail administrative, political or legal strengths or constraints that could effect the partnership.

Types of partnership agreements include:

  • A Wikipedian in Residence contract with an individual member of Wiki Project Med.
