TBA Engr. Dr. Luqman Kareem SALATI

Kaduna Polytechnic

Engr. Dr. Luqman Salati was born in Mushin Area of Lagos State, South-western Nigeria. He attended Ansarul Islam Primary School, Okemale, Okekere, Ilorin, between 1978 and 1984 and Ilorin Grammar School (IGS), Gerin Alimi, Ilorin, between 1984 and 1990. He gained admission into Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin in 1995 where he obtained National Diploma in Mineral Resources Engineering in 1997. He also attended the prestigious Kaduna Polytechnic in 1998 where he studied Mining Engineering and obtained Higher National Diploma in the year 2000. After his national youth service in 2002, he proceeded for his Postgraduate Diploma (PgD) in Mining Engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Ondo State which he completed in 2005. In 2006, he secured admission for his Master in the Department of Mining Engineering at FUTA. He secured employment with Kaduna Polytechnic in the same year as a Senior Instructor. He completed his Master Programme in 2010 which was approved in 2011. In 2012, he got admission for his PhD to study Mining Engineering at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa in Western Ghana, the only such specialized University in Africa. Engr. Dr. Luqman Kareem Salati, in 2015, became the First Nigerian to obtain a PhD in Mining Engineering from UMaT, Tarkwa, Ghana, and has remained the only Nigerian with such feat till date. He had the privilege to be supervised by the first Professor of Mining Engineering in the entire West-Africa Sub-region, Prof. Emeritus Daniel Mireku-Gyima, who was the foundation Vice Chancellor of the University. On his return to Nigeria in 2015, Dr. Luqman K. Salati continued to work as a polytechnic teacher and researcher and held several positions in Kaduna Polytechnic, where he served as the immediate past Head of the Department (HOD) of Mineral and Petroleum Resources Engineering. Engr. Dr. L.K. Salati is presently a Principal Lecturer, a trained Mining Engineer and is registered with the following professional bodies:  Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN)  Council of Nigerian Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG)

Engr. Dr. Luqman Salati is presently a Visiting Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mining Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Jos and a visiting Lecturer at the Nigerian Institute of Mining and Geosciences (NIMG), Jos, all in Plateau State. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers (NSME) and currently the national Financial Secretary of the Society. Professionally, he has participated in several discourses at both State and National levels in the Nigerian mining industry. He has published in many local and international journals and attended several conferences both within and outside Nigeria. He has also presented several academic papers as guest speakers at many seminars, symposia, training programmes and professional meetings at different times. He loves writing, enjoys meeting new friends, playing football as a goalkeeper and travelling for new adventures. He is happily married with children.
