The activity/project[edit]

Tell us about your proposed project. What will you get achieved with this time?
Describe why you think this project is important, and how the project is different from your normal volunteer contributions.

This project is focused on adding the Wikidata label and statement of the plants, flowers, animals and reptiles indigenous to Nepal in local language “Nepali”. According to the survey, reports and studies Nepal ranked 25th in the world in terms of Biodiversity wealth. There is more than 212 species of mammals, 886 species of birds, 2,532 species of vascular plants founds in Nepal.

This project is helpful and important for the students, academicians and readers to know the Nepali name of the plants, flowers, animals and reptiles indigenous to Nepal. We will add the Nepali name to the species Wikidata item page and later we will import the data from Wikidata using Listeriabot to the Nepali Wikipedia. In this way we can also identify the number of articles yet to be created on Nepali Wikipedia. We will also try to find pictures on Wikimedia Commons to require item pages. We have plans to add in total 800 to 1000 species of plants, flowers, animals and reptiles. We will also add the further reading section at the local Wikipedia list page, so one can add the source and content to the related articles. Our all team members will work on this project.
