Tent 3-Session 1: In this session of the program, two key things caught my interest. That is; the basics of digital security and educational partnerships. The digital security basics broadened my understanding of the concept of digital security and I can now identify and create strong digital passwords for my digital accounts. The educational partnership presentation elaborated on some educational partnership programs that seek to integrate Wikipedia into educational systems through wiki projects such as ‘reading Wikipedia in the classroom’. This opens opportunities for volunteers to contribute effectively to the development of Wikipedia worldwide. 1. Day 3 Tent 1-Session 2: In this session, Wikijournal under the Wikiversity was discussed and I learned a lot from it which gives an opportunity for research knowledge contribution through open access publication. It serves as a new opportunity for me to contribute greatly to the academic pool of knowledge without worrying about economic constraints. Also, a beautiful African dance by the Zulu in South Africa also gave me an appreciative mindset of the cultural diversity of Africa and beyond. 2. Day 2 Tent 1-Session 2: This session mainly enlightened me on the professors’ perspective of Wikipedia as a source of knowledge. Most professors do not recommend citing Wikipedia in academic works, however, they recognize Wikipedia as a good place to seek knowledge because it will eventually lead people to the original knowledge source. It was also established that Wikipedia is dominated by social science-based knowledge and less representation of pure sciences and engineering fields. I figured out Wikijournal has the prospers of remedying this drawback when effectively established. 3. Day 1
- How did you connect with other people during Wikimania 2022? How did you celebrate at Wikimania 2022?
Wikimania 2022 served as an opportunity for me to interact with other people through the program chat. I made new friends gave guidelines to a few people on how to navigate the Pheedloop interface, and also received more clarification from experienced people on things I did not understand. Partaking in this year's Wikimania has generally been a great experience for me. To conclude, I celebrated the program by participating virtually and it has been a wonderful experience of education coupled with entertainment of cultural displays. I, therefore, look forward to participating in more Wikimania programs to further broaden my knowledge of Wikipedia projects.
