A grant application by the Dagbani Wikimedians User Group to support its members from the Dagbani, Gurene, Moore communities and the university of education Wiki hub to participate in Wikimania 2022. This grant will help support our communities before, during and after Wikimania events.

How will the funding requested support your community’s participation at Wikimania?
Please review following eligible activities and expenses below, and write below any that will be included in your activities.

  • Childcare services (or similar family services) to support Wikimania participation
  • Data packages to distribute to Wikimania participants
  • Administrative or operational costs for to distribute funds to community members, such as transfer fees
  • Small hardware expenses to support access (such as webcams, microphones, head/earphones)
    Note: Requests for computers, laptops, tablets, and other personal devices are not eligible.
  • Translation services for a Wikimania session
  • Video production support for pre-recorded Wikimania sessions (such as equipment or space)
  • In-person meetups that coincide with Wikimania activities (food, beverage, meeting space)
  • Printed artwork, conference swag/merchandise for event participants
Dagbani Wikimedans User Group will support its community members at Gurene Wikimedia Community, Moore Wikimedia Community and the University of education Wikimedia community.
Listed below will be provided to aid the participation of the 4 communities above:
  • Small hardware expenses to support access (such as webcams, microphones, headset/earphones)
  • Childcare services to support especially women to take part in Wikimania
  • Data packages to distribute to Wikimania participants
  • Pre-Wikimania meetups to educate first time participants on what Wikimania is all about
  • Post-Wikimania meetups resulting from having attended Wikimania (food, beverage, meeting space)
  • Translation services for Wikimania session since our group is language specific.


If you are planning to distribute funds to community members, such as by running a local scholarship program, please provide additional detail on how you will organize this process.

  • the processes or services you will use to distribute funds.

This description does not need to be comprehensive, but should generally explain the process for how community members will receive funds or support to participate in Wikimania. If you are not distributing funds to community members, please write N/A below.

  • Our social media platforms(Telegram,WhatsApp and Facebook) will be effectively used for invitation to apply for funding.
  • The community members will be considered first based on their activeness in community’s activities.
  • A google form will be created and applicants outside the community will be required to indicate reason for their interest in participation. Based on
this, applicants with tangible reasons for the scholarship will be considered.


Outcomes

Please provide a range or estimate for the number of participants the funding will support.
It is OK if this is estimate is based on limited information, but we want to have an idea of how your activities will support community participation in Wikimania. Some examples:

  • 3-5 participants will receive childcare support to support their participation at Wikimania.
  • 10 participants will receive hardware support
  • 10-20 participants will receive data packages to support their participation at Wikimania
By the end of the conference we would:
  • have 4 Wikimania conference meetups funded for Gurune Wikimedia Community, Moore Wikimedia Community and Dagbani Wikimedians Community members and volunteers from University of Education.
  • have provided data packages for 40 - 50 Wikimania participants from the 4 Wikipedia communities
  • have supported 30 participants with childcare support
  • have bought small hardware expenses to support access (such as webcams, microphones, headset/earphones) for 30
  • have translated the Wikimania session to the participants in the Dagbani language
  • have catered for administrative cost.
