Wikimania 2022/Scholarships/Turkic UG/Report

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Goals[edit]

Baku Meetup 2022, the second Wikimania meeting of Turkic Wikimedians, was organized in Baku, Azerbaijan by the Wikimedians of Turkic Languages User Group. More than 20 participants from different age groups and various professions took part in the event. Everything that we planned: the number of participants, the organization and the sessions, went as we aimed. The hybrid meeting of Turkish-speaking Wikimedia players living in different parts of the world, which we envisioned as the main part of the event, took place as planned.

Learning[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?
    • The event was very productive and everyone participated in the meeting with great interest. That was the largest wiki-meetup in the last 2 years.
    • Many new articles were created and edited during the editathon, and presentations were made on two different topics in a hybrid meeting with the Wikimedians of Turkic Languages User Group.
    • The venue and technical support of the event were well-organized.
  • What did not work so well?
    • The event could have been organized on a larger scale and more Wikipedians would be able to participate.
