Goals
[edit]Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?
Wiki Movimento Brasil (WMB) organized Wikimania in-person meeting and “Wiki Takes Santa Leopoldina”, the first Wiki Takes out of São Paulo State (SP). The grant provided transportation to the city, accomodation and meals for 12 wikimedians from different parts of Brazil; and also meals for another 5 local partners who helped to organize the event. It provided us with invaluable experience in how to organize quick Wiki events in small cities out of SP and to immerse our members in this type of events and programmes, considering financial and geographical factors. The experience was both challenging and rewarding. And we are delighted to announce we documented and geolocated 100% of the listed assets from Santa Leopoldina-ES, including the rural ones. Not even the governmental agency has pictures of some of them.

More than 2,000 Quilombos are recognized by federal law, but they are not represented in Wikimedia platforms. This Wiki Ocupa event provided this amazing oportunity to wikimedians and local partners to visit, document and create a communication channel with this community for future projects. |

Learning
[edit]Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
The pre-existing GLAM partnerships with Secretary of State for Culture (SeCult-ES) and Museu do Colono were fundamental for the organization of this event.
- What did not work so well?
The grant announcement occured near the event dates. This led us to buying the flying tickets for really high prices (near three times expensive).
- What would you do differently next time?
We would organize the Wiki Takes event with a smaller group and buy the tickets earlier.

Anything else
[edit]Anything else you want to share about your project?
The Wikimedia Brasil community gathers really dedicated volunteers. We are very happy that we were able to support some of them in traveling and participating in this Wikimania + Wiki Takes event. And we are also proud of presenting Wikimedia platforms to many local people and we hope some of them want to engaje to our Brazilian community.
