Wikimania 2022/ Cape Town Scholarship
Wikimania 2022: Cape Town Scholarship Wikimania was held virtually and face to face this year, Cape Town hosted a face-to-face 3-day event from 12 to 14 August, the event was held at the University of Cape Town. In Cape Town, we were Joined by The CEO of Wikimedia Foundation Maryana Iskander.
Background[edit]
Wikimania is an annual event that brings Wikipedia volunteers around the world for virtual and in-person celebrations of free knowledge. The Cape Town 3-day event brought out a lot of people, from Super Editors, Librarians, Lawyers, Social media Influencers, Photographers...etc
Objectives of Wikimania Cape Town[edit]
- Enhance social cohesion
- To help people learn how to contribute to Wikimedia projects
- To establish the presence of Wikimedia in communities
- Face-to-face meet-ups (after Covid-19)

|Thumb|The first day was a reception, which was held at the University of Cape Town at the law center. The event started at 16:00 pm. There was a great turnout, especially for the first day, we had an enthusiastic group of attendees.
