Wikimania 2023/Indianapolis Meetup

Wikimania 2023 is the eighteenth international Wikimedia conference, bringing Wikimedians together to create, celebrate and connect, in-person in Singapore and virtually.
The Wikimedians of Indiana User Group is hosting a Wikimania 2023 local meetup in Indianapolis on August 16th - 19th. Anyone is welcome to gather with us in-person to meet each other and participate in online and offline activities. We want to take this opportunity to meet up with other local/Midwestern folks and show our growing community what Wikipedia is all about, while experiencing Wikimania for the first time.

Wikimania global schedule is still in-progress and will likely change leading up to the event.
The schedule for local events is actively being created and depends on the interests of the attendees. If you have a project you wish to discuss or present, or a topic you want to talk about, please leave a Discussion message and we will add it to the schedule!

Our activities during the Conference will be based in Ashby Browsing Room at IUPUI Library, 755 W. Michigan St., Indianapolis, IN 46202.
Lodging[edit]
There is a Conference downtown until Friday the 11th. Many hotels are currently full, but open up that Saturday. There is ample availability by the airport and in other parts of the city, we would be happy to help folks get around the city if they have to stay further out.
If you feel comfortable, we do have some beds available with the organizers for free. Just let us know.

Technology[edit]
Please bring a laptop and power adapter, if you can. We have limited access to additional laptops if needed. (Please let us know.) The conference room is equipped with a camera, projector, large screen, and HDMI cord.
Transportation[edit]
IndyGo is Indianapolis' bus transit system. The website has a trip planner to help you easily move around the city. Day passes are $4 and 2 hour tickets are $1.75.
Lyft & Uber are options around the city and local folks are willing to help attendees get around, too.
