- Abstract
I've been a librarian at Oregon State University since 2006, but it was only last year that I began immersing myself in all things Wikipedia. I was prompted into action because of an interesting conversation I had with my 10-year-old son, and I left the conversation thinking "I need to learn everything I can about Wikipedia because our students, as young as 10, are using it." During my lightning talk I will discuss how and why I immersed myself in Wikipedia for a year, the things I learned, and my next steps.
- How does your proposal add knowledge to the international community in Wikimedia and education?
I hope to motivate other librarians and educators to learn more about Wikipedia and how it can be used in education.
- Who is the intended ideal audience for the topic?
Educators, librarians
