Proposed dates[edit]

Saturday 10 June[edit]

I like 20:00 better unless you cant make it at that time :) - Nathan Carter (Talk) 10:09, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I personally prefer 21:00... or is that too late for people? enochlau (talk) 11:09, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Mine was just a suggestion, not a vote, so since there are two people wanting 21:00 and one wanting 20:00, I'm going to say it's 21:00 just so a decision can be made now, allowing people to plan to be there at the right time rather than making changes too close to the meeting itself. 21:00 it is, I was just thinking it was a little late for me LOL - Nathan Carter (Talk) 12:41, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agenda[edit]

Please add issues you would like to see discussed at the second meeting here.

  • Whether Victoria should be the incorporated state.
Again, this depends on the structure, but if we become an incorporated association I think it would be wise to be incorporated in the state we have the most members. My logic here is that if the largest number of members are in that state then we should have at least one person from that state on the governing committee. I dont like the idea of a public officer who isnt involved in routine operations.
  • Issues about the committee. Things that the committee have done: as far as I can remember it's Nathan, Enoch, me, Angela.
  • Things to do with the financial year. Raising money. What to do with money.
  • Putting Wikimedia into schools for the start of the new semester. Many kids will have got interested in wiki and blogging by now; they will be well established (see article about Jo McLeay, the Worldwide Classroom).
  • Appropriate media placements.
  • Looking for grants one or two.
  • Who will go on the Churchill Fellowship for 2007? I'm really sorry I didn't get to mention that. Apparently there was some interest.
  • A little Wikimedia for Australia - piggybacking on Linux User Groups.
  • Maybe we can go to the New Zealand wikimeet?

--Bronwyn Gannan 12:10, 24 April 2006 (UTC).[reply]

  • What can we do now? (not everything has to wait until we're official incorporated).
    • Gaining press attention for Wikimedia projects in Australia: relevant press releases? Offering Australian images for donors during the fundraising drive?

Education[edit]

On the other hand, junk all that and make it a big education symposium.
As much as I think education should be a primary goal for us, I think the oranisational stuff needs to be sorted yet. Perhaps we could at the next meeting devise an agenda for a special "education related" meeting.
I agree a separate education meeting would be best. It's a shame this hasn't happened yet. I planned to arrange one after meeting 2. Angela 12:45, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
