- Abstract (up to 100 words)
Wikibase, the free and open-source software behind Wikidata, is being increasingly adopted by GLAM and cultural heritage institutions as a platform for creating knowledge bases of linked open data. In this session, we want to provide a brief introduction to how cultural heritage projects around the world are using Wikibase as well as to share ways in which Wikimedia Germany (WMDE) can support national chapters in initiating and sustaining partnerships with GLAM institutions globally.
- How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region of Central and Eastern Europe?
We hope that this lightning talk will beneficial for the communities in the region of Eastern Europe by presenting examples of partnerships between GLAM institutions and Wikibase/Wikidata, as well as by providing information on how WMDE can support the fostering of such partnerships.
