| Abstract:
Wikipedia is the largest and most popular general reference work on the internet. It is a collaborative project that relies on the contributions of millions of volunteers around the world. However, Wikipedia is still facing a number of challenges, including the need to improve the quality of its content, the need to attract more diverse contributors, and the need to address the issue of bias. Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to address many of these challenges. AI can be used to improve the quality of Wikipedia content by identifying and correcting errors, by generating new content, and by translating content into different languages. AI can also be used to attract more diverse contributors by making it easier for people to find and edit articles that are relevant to their interests. And AI can be used to address the issue of bias by identifying and removing biased content. The proposed session will explore the challenges and opportunities of using AI for Wikipedia. The session will discuss the following topics:
