Abstract:
Everyone reads Wikipedia, but shockingly few people from outside the Wikimedia movement understand how it works. How can we best present Wikipedia when speaking for an external audience? Over the past ten years I’ve held dozens of presentations about Wikipedia, and in this session I’ll share some insights on the most important facts about Wikipedia we should convey in presentations and workshops; the most common questions about Wikipedia & how to respond to them; the most widespread myths and misconceptions. Participants will be asked to provide input from their experience on each of the topics covered. |
