An expansion of activities entails a growing amount of administrative and organizational work. A paid staff member can reduce the workload of board members. But hiring an employee for the first time is a big step for the community and also requires extra effort.
The workshop is based on the experiences of CEE-afiliates that have already gone through this process. We will discuss the most important issues, cover both best practices and bad decisions. We will practice different situations using small real-life cases, such as onboarding and dismissal, building trust on a personal and organizational level, the changing role of the board.
Note for the program committee: There is quite some material available. Is it possible to plan two workshops of 90 minutes each (like last year)?
Slides: To be addded
Level of advancement: medium
Special requirements: beamer, whiteboard
